

She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 26, 1951, to the late John D. Findlay and Jean V. Findlay. Also preceding her in death are her grandparents, JG and Margaret Vandiver, and David and Millie Findlay; and her husband, Howard W. Lane.
Kathy attended Pratt Elementary, Charles A. Brown Elementary, and she was a 1969 graduate of Ensley High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She went on to graduate from the University of Alabama in 1972 and was on the Dean's list consistently. Kathy married Howard W. Lane in 1979 and they were married for 13 years until his passing in 1992. She was the Executive Support Manager at Bellsouth services for over 30 years until her retirement. Kathy was an Elder at Riverchase Presbyterian Church and a member of the Alabama Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed puzzles, cross-stitch, and cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team!
Left to cherish her memory are her two brothers, David Findlay (Dottie) and Mike Findlay (Angela); Nieces and Nephews, Mark Findlay of Newport, NC; Jackson Findlay of Elmendorf AFB Alaska; Austin Findlay (Autumn) of McGuire AFB New Jersey; Abby Sharit (Christopher) of Odenville, AL; Gena Nichols (Mathew) of Centreville, AL; and Kellen Fondren (Will) of Pondville, AL. She is also survived by her great-nieces and nephews, Henry Findlay of Newport, NC; Beau and Wesley Findlay of Alaska; Amelia Findlay of New Jersey; and Ellison Kate Fondren of Pondville, AL.
A visitation will be held at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, October 27, 2023, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm with a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
