

Kay was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 14, 1954 to parents Olen F. Williamson, Sr. and Jaunita Dodd Williamson. From an early age Kay always had a resounding love for family and friends. She grew up in the Glen Oaks neighborhood of Fairfield, Alabama. She went on to graduate from Fairfield High School where she played trumpet as a proud member of the marching band.
Professionally she worked at First National Bank of Birmingham and later the Yellow Pages division of BellSouth-AT&T where she went on to retire after over 30 years of dedicated service. Afterward she served in a contract role with the US Army Corp of Engineers until she fully retired in 2020.
Kay was an avid sports fan from an early age. She made many amazing memories playing church league softball at Pike Avenue Baptist Church. She later went on to coach both of her sons in youth baseball. She loved nothing more than coaching her sons and later supporting them along with her niece, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great nieces, and great nephews as they participated in various sporting events.
Kay’s proudest life achievement was being the mother to her two sons Kurt and Austin, and grandmother to her three grandchildren Millie, Knox, and Luke. She also had a tremendous passion for The University of Alabama, where each of her sons would go on to attend college and graduate with honors.
Kay was a devout Christian and true believer in Jesus. She was a member of Pike Avenue Baptist Church in Birmingham and later Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster. Until her last days she loved Gospel music and was truly a servant of the Lord. Her personality was one that always exuded fun and she lived a life full of grace and pride for her family.
Kay is predeceased by her mother and father Jaunita Dodd Williamson and Olen F. Williamson, Sr. She is survived by her sons Kurt (Lindsay) Jones and Austin Jones; grandchildren Millie Dodd, Knox, and Luke Jones; sister Jo Ann Holcombe; twin brother Olen (Carol) Williamson, Jr.; nephews Joel (Ashley) Williamson, Drew (Paige) Williamson, and Tripp (Michelle) Holcombe; niece Katie (Julian) Meloni; special uncle Dr. Toxey Dorsett; in addition to many cherished cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
Kay and her family wish to recognize and sincerely thank her medical teams at Grandview Medical Center, Alabama Oncology, and the various Winship Cancer Institutes of Emory.
A funeral service celebrating Kay’s life will be held at Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster, Alabama on October 28, 2024 at 1:00 pm CT. Her family will also host a visitation that will be held prior to the funeral service at Westwood Baptist Church from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm CT.
