Minister Dr. Linda Thomas Gunn

Minister ​Dr. Linda Thomas Gunn, 78, a resident of Calera, Alabama, peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2026. Born in Sylacauga, Alabama on June 22, 1947, she was the beloved daughter of her late parents, Curtis Thomas and Helen Foster.

Linda Gunn is survived by her loving daughter, Crystal Marie Wright; her grandchildren, Brien M.R. Gunn, DeAngelo C. Gunn, and Briana V. Gunn; two brothers, Larry (Juliette) Thomas and Kenneth (Sheyla) Thomas; six great-grandchildren, Lauree Gunn, Ziona Gunn, JaRien Gunn, Ezekiel Gunn, Elijah Gunn and Sarai Thomas; and a host of nieces, cousins, friends and neighbors.

Linda was married to the late Elder Captain Bernard Gunn 31 years before he transitioned on September 22, 2022. They both immensely loved family, life and their Savior, Jesus Christ. Her late son, Kerry Wendell Dixon also preceded her on April 16, 2007. Linda retired from Protective Life Insurance in 2006 after 20 years of service.

​Linda dedicated her life to her family and her faith, serving with love and humility as both a matriarch and a minister. She received a Master of Divinity and a Master of Theology from Christian Life School of Theology. This is where she also received her Doctorate of Theology.

She served faithfully for nearly 30 years with Cutting Edge Ministries Church as Youth Director, Co-Coordinator of New Members and a relevant teacher. Her legacy of spiritual leadership and excellence leaves an indelible mark on all who knew her. She was a pillar of strength, known for her unwavering compassion and her commitment to uplifting others through the Word.

Linda's warmth, loving heart and spirit of excellence will be greatly missed by ​her family, friends and church family.

Visitation will be at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama, on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 10-11 a.m., followed by A Celebration of Linda's Life at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Interment will be at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115.
