Mary Evelyn Snelling Haynes passed away in Birmingham on Saturday, February 13th, at the age of 95. She was a lifelong resident of Homewood and was well loved by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Truman Haynes. She is survived by her five children, Jerry Haynes, Carol Haynes Lawson (Tom), Susan Haynes Robertson (Malcolm), Gary Haynes and Tracey Haynes Morris (Mike) and by nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Haynes graduated from Woodlawn High School, was a former member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Birmingham. She was retired from the Social Security Administration. She loved animals, sewing, working outdoors and was always active in her church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to 1st Baptist Church in Birmingham or a local animal shelter. She will be greatly missed by all her children and those that knew her. There will be a visitation held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Tuesday the 16th from 12pm to 2pm with a graveside to follow.
