Mike Carden Brooks III

Mike was a 1971 graduate of Austin High School in Decatur. He served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force at MacDill AFB in Tampa, Florida from 1971 to 1975.

Mike's professional career spanned 37 years in sales with Frito-Lay. He started as a route salesman in New Orleans, Louisiana with the company in 1975 and eventually was promoted to various positions in Tuscaloosa, Huntsville, and Birmingham, AL. He retired as a Regional Sales Manager in 2012 in Birmingham.

Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his three grandchildren, and Alabama Crimson Tide football. He was a member of the Red Elephant Club of Birmingham and a supporter of Alabama Athletics through Tide Pride since 1987.

Mike married the former Margaret Antoinette Cousin on January 19, 1974 at Williams Boulevard Baptist Church in Kenner, Louisiana. In addition to his wife, Mike is survived by his daughter, Lauren Shivers (Stephen) of Indian Springs, Alabama; one son, Bryant Brooks (Laura) of Hoover, Alabama; grandchildren, Carden and Margaret Shivers, and Carter James Brooks; and sisters, Nancy Davis (William) of Birmingham and Deborah Hendrix (Larry) of Decatur.

The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. Later that day, family and friends will gather at Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo for the gravesite committal service at 1:15 p.m.
