Nancy McDaniel Gilmore was born June 8, 1935, and passed away peacefully May 11, 2019, at the age of 83. Nancy was born in Sheffield, Alabama and attended Phillips High School where she was a cheerleader. She was a faithful member of Fairfield Highlands Baptist Church, and was the church secretary for 26 years. She was married to her loving husband James M. Gilmore for 62 years. She was a loving mother to June G. Martin (Eddie) and James M. Gilmore Jr. (Wendy). She was the proud grandmother of Tyler Martin (Alex), Amanda Gilmore, Rachel Martin, and Allie Gilmore. She is also survived by her siblings Mary Katherine Scarborough (Jim), Ray McDaniel (Dottie) and Pelter McDaniel.
Nancy was well loved and adored by all. She was a woman of faith and lived her life to serve others. Her gentle and kind spirit touched and brightened the lives of so many. She was committed to and passionate about her family. Nothing thrilled her more than spending time with her family. Nancy was one of the most selfless women you would ever meet she had a passion for serving others, and never thought about herself she definitely had a servant's heart. We celebrate a remarkable life filled with faith, love, and compassion.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 11:00 A.M at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with visitation beginning 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Gideons.org in memory of Nancy.
