On January 23, 2025, Nancy Kay Wainscott Perky heard God’s call, “Well done my good and faithful servant,” and entered the celestial gates to His peaceful presence. Nancy was born on July 8,1939 to Ivan Charles Wainscott and Dorothy Mae Peak Wainscott. She met the love of her life, Lester Dean Perky, at Keyes High School in Keyes, Oklahoma, and they were married on December 24,1959. They had just celebrated their 65th anniversary.
Family was extremely important to Nancy, and she proudly showcased her 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. She cherished spending time with family. Nancy crocheted many, many afghans, doilies, and baby blankets for family and friends. She would say, “There are many prayers and much love in every stitch.”
Children were particularly important to her as well. Nancy owned and operated a preschool/daycare center in Keyes and Boise City, OK for several years called Kiddie Korner. She also spent countless hours teaching children about the love of Jesus at her church, First Baptist Church, Keyes, OK.
Nancy valued her many friendships. Recently, she had fallen in love with the game Hand and Foot and could often be found playing with her “card playing buddies” at Danberry. Her mission in life was to share the love of Jesus with everyone she met through kind words, a beautiful smile, and an infectious laugh.
She is preceded in death by 2 brothers, 1 sister, a son, Kevin Dean, and a daughter, Kandi Ann. She is survived by her husband, Lester Perky, a daughter, Robin Kelley (Stephen), and a son, Steve (Rachel), 7 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters.
A memorial has been set to honor her memory and celebrate her life at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 in Inverness Hall at Danberry at Inverness at 235 Inverness Center Drive, Hoover, AL. All color clothing is acceptable.
