Nellie Price Cole

Nellie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (known affectionately to her grandchildren as Gran Gran or GG), sister, and friend.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John “Jake” Cole of Birmingham; two sons, Randy (Sherry) Cole of north Shelby County, Alabama, and Ronnie (Kathy) Cole of Dora, Alabama; a daughter, Ronda (Freddy) Thomas of Helena, Alabama; a sister, Dot (Keith) Evans of Demopolis, Alabama; five grandsons, John Cole, Andy Cole, Michael Cole, Cole Thomas, and Jameson Thomas; three granddaughters, Stacy (Andrew) Clark, Emma Kate Thomas, and Brittany Rush; and a host of other family members and friends.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elizabeth Price; and two sons, John Jacob Cole, Jr. and Roger Cole.

She was a member of the Riverchase Church of Christ. As a former member of Woodward Golf and Country Club, she was an avid and accomplished golfer. She won the Ladies Club Championship in 1998, and again in 1999.

Visitation will be at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama on Friday, February 14, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be in Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11 a.m., followed by a brief, graveside service and interment at 2 p.m. at Christian Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery, located approximately seven miles north of Millport, Alabama on ALA Hwy 17. Dewayne Spivey will preside.

Active Pallbearers: John Cole, Andy Cole, Michael Cole, Cole Thomas, Freddy Thomas, Andrew Clark, Paul Moore, and Billy Barton. Honorary Pallbearers: The Ladies Birmingham Golf Association and Nellie's wonderful neighborhood friends.

The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society directed to ovarian cancer research.
