Patricia Clarke Allsopp (Mrs. Stephen Bennett Allsopp Jr.) passed into eternal life at her home in Indian Springs on Monday, August 12th 2024. A visitation will be held at 10:00 am followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30am on Friday, August 16, 2024 in the chapel of Saint Francis Xavier Church, 2 Xavier Circle, Birmingham, Alabama 35213. Burial to follow at Southern Heritage in the presence of family.
Mrs. Allsopp, formerly Patricia Ann Clarke, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Roger Clarke (Rosemary Rooney.) Born March 10, 1956 in Chicago, Pat moved to Memphis, and then to Birmingham, where she graduated from Berry High School.
Pat was a parishioner at Prince of Peace in Hoover, baptizing and confirming her children in the Catholic faith. She and her husband Steve resided in Indian Springs Village throughout their marriage, and were avid and productive gardeners, producing weekly roses for the children’s teachers.
A passionate home chef, Pat was ambitious in clipping and perfecting recipes from Southern Living. Her children remember that the house was always redolent of fine cooking that was shared with all. They will also fondly remember her enthusiasm for holidays and the lasting memories she made.
Pat had a successful and fulfilling career as a distinguished underwriter in the mortgage industry, including twenty-nine years with Southtrust and most recently retiring from Synovus.
She is deeply mourned, and is survived by the growing family she lived for and loved, her husband of 40 years Stephen Bennett Allsopp Jr., three children Katherine Allsopp (Katie) Thomas and her husband Michael; Kimberly Allsopp Sullivan and her husband Charles; Stephen Bennett Allsopp III and his wife Madeline. Her grandchildren loved her: Lillian Rose Sullivan, Charles Bennett Sullivan, Jack Bennett Thomas, Jane Margaret Thomas, Clarke Keenon Sullivan, and Lanier Kate Allsopp. She held dear her brothers Wayne Clarke, John Clarke and his wife Virginia, and James Clarke.
