

Patricia Ann Hug, beloved wife and cherished mother and grandmother, passed away December 27, 2013 at her home after a long battle with a brain disease. She was surrounded in love by her husband and family. She was 76 years old. Pat is survived by her husband of 56 years Reg, her sisters Marci Bentley (Dick) and Sandy Galletta (Joe), and her brother Ken Taylor (Jan), three daughters Jan Davis (Phillip), Sherri Booker (AB) and Melanie Walter (Keith), six granddaughters Kacey Davis, Nicole Cox (Shelby), Megan Walter, Taylor Davis, Brittany Underwood, and Madison Walter and many nieces and nephews. Pat was married to P. Reginald Hug in 1957. She was a devoted mother to their three daughters and a loving mentor to her six granddaughters. She worked alongside her husband in his chiropractic clinic as his business manager. As an involved professional wife Pat held many positions including President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Alabama State Chiropractic Association, Editor of the LAASCA newsletter and was named Chiropractic wife of the year in 1987. Her administration was responsible for multiple scholarships for Alabama Chiropractic students. She was a woman of faith actively involved in her UMW circle at Asbury United Methodist Church, a member of the Friendship Sunday school class and the Asbury choir. She gave much of her time to volunteering for the symphony, church library, oak mountain missions and many more. She served as President of the Heatherwood Evening Garden Club, where she shared her love of gardening. As president she was honored for the tree dedications for the golf course. She was also a past Secretary of the Heatherwood Homeowners Association. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Tuesday December 31, 2013 at 2 p.m. with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to AUMC Choir fund- 6690 Cahaba Valley Rd, Birmingham, AL 35242.
