

Paul Joseph Scozzaro of Birmingham, Alabama passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on April 30, 2026. Born on November 1, 1938, in Birmingham, Paul enjoyed a long career working for Channel 6 news as a talented engineer. In retirement, he enjoyed listening to music, tinkering with his computer and electronics, and spending time with family and friends, especially with Ross, Charles, and Ellis, making Italian cookies and enjoying long meals.
Paul is preceded in death by his wife of twenty-seven years, Shirley Maddox Scozzaro; his son, Paul Anthony Scozzaro; his parents, Lena and Anthony Scozzaro; and his sisters, Jean Scozzaro Salidas and Anna Scozzaro Rodriguez. He is survived by his stepson, Kevin L. Johnson and his step grandchildren: Amy Marlar, Sarah Atkins, Morgan Johnson, and Ashton Johnson; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rita and Jimmy Holmes; his nephews, Tony Smith, Greg Rodriguez, and Andy Rodriguez; and his nieces, Elizabeth Salidas Copper and Anna Rodriguez Willis.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Paul’s two nurses, Morgan and Shelli Ferguson with Compassus Home Health and Hospice who faithfully took care of Paul during his last years. Their patience and kindness did not go unnoticed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Compassus Living Foundation in Paul’s name.
A visitation will be held on May 21, 2026 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church with a service following at 10:00 am.
