Philip Clinton Cochran

Philip Clinton Cochran, 69, died Friday, May 19, 2023 at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born January 20, 1954 to Edith Lillian Anderson Cochran and Stanley Armstrong Cochran in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In his teenage years, "Phil" discovered his first love, the game of basketball. He was recruited from North Cobb High School to play at Mercer University on a basketball scholarship. At Mercer, he also met Laura, his second and great love in this life.

Phil spent his early working years in sales at Kraft Foods, General Foods, and Maxwell House Coffee before he began his work as an entrepreneur in the mini‐storage industry.

At the age of 41, he became a devoted Christ‐follower and a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Pelham, Alabama. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member, missionary, and believer in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was an avid fisherman and lover of sports. He will forever be remembered for his joyous laugh and his exclamations of “bless His name.”

Phil was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his beloved sister, Lynne Cochran Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Laura West Cochran; his son, Clinton Armstrong Cochran and wife Casey Brasher Cochran; his daughter, Elizabeth Cochran Meadows and husband John Orman Meadows; his nephews, Philip Stephen Haynes and William Ross Haynes; and two grandsons, Robert Armstrong

Visitation will be held Monday, May 22, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Pelham from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., with a celebration of life service immediately following.
