Phyllis was born in Pascagoula, MS on September 3, 1942 where she grew up and obtaining her bachelors degree at Mississippi College and later on to obtain her Masters at Southern Mississippi. She worked as a teacher at Chelsea High School for 25 years before retiring.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Lynwood and Sue Ross and her husband of 52 years James B Roberts Sr.
Phyllis is survived by her sister Lynn Hampton; daughter Suzanne Russell; Son James Roberts Jr; four grandchildren David Russell, Lorelei Roberts, Lucas Roberts, and Lily Roberts.
