

O. Reggie Allen, age 79, of Hoover, Alabama, passed away February 11, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarice Harper Allen and Orville Thomas Allen. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Judy Martin Allen, his daughters: Kim (Ron) Johnson, Kristi Dowdy, and Kerri Turner, his grandchildren: Brandon (Mary Craig) Tortorice, Carson (Mary Clare) Tortorice, Alden Dowdy, Graham Turner, Rhett Turner, and Tabor Turner, as well as his great grandchildren: Edward Barnes (E.B.) Tortorice, and Ruthie Tortorice, his brother, Mike Allen and many special friends.
Reggie was a 1960 graduate of Jones Valley High School. He then attended Auburn University, where he played football under Shug Jordan for 2 years. Reggie then transferred to Howard College (Samford University) where he played under Bobby Bowden and Bubba Scott until his graduation in 1964. After graduation, he spent his career with Alabama Power Company, where he retired after 37 years of service. Reggie was also an active member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, as well as an avid gardener and lover of flowers. Above all else, Reggie was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 15th, from 10:00am to 11:30am at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. Private graveside service for family to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to any charity of your choice. The family would also like to acknowledge the Grandview Medical Center Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nursing staff for their outstanding care.
