

Reta Madeline Crane Thompson, age 94, of Hoover, AL passed away Monday morning, February 18, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Esty, West Virginia and raised her family in McKenzie, TN. She was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In April 2001, she moved to the Birmingham, AL area, where she especially enjoyed living at the Rocky Ridge Retirement Center. She loved the Lord, her family, friends, and church. She was a great cook, and enjoyed sharing that talent with others.
Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents, Tony and Mary Crane; sisters, Ann Hinkle and Stella Hanna; brothers-in-law, Bob Froelich, Cecil Hinkle, and Charlton Hanna; and brother- and sister-in-law, Dick and Katherine Thompson.
Survivors include Mrs. Thompson's daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Steve Hayes; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Pam Thompson; grandchildren, Kim Harper (Wes) and Karen Haralson (Todd): step-grandchildren, Ken Pittman (Laura) and Steve Pittman (Linda): great-grandchildren, Cooper Haralson, Hope Haralson, Caleb Haralson, Hannah Marie Harper, and Hayes Harper; step-great-grandchild, Caleb Pittman; two sisters, Cleta Froelich and Theta Corlew(Ron); one brother, Richard Crane (Sandie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends 10-11 a.m. before the Celebration of Mrs. Thompson's Life at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at First Baptist Church of McKenzie, TN with Rev. Dennis Trull officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, McKenzie.
