Robert Edward Lee Garner, of Huntsville Alabama passed away on July 4th, 2018 at the age of 71 after a year-long battle with melanoma cancer. "Bob", as he was known by friends and family, was born on September 26th, 1946 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He lived his early life in Kentucky but spent most of his childhood just outside of Birmingham, Alabama in Cahaba Heights. A life-long fan of the Crimson Tide, he graduated from The University of Alabama in 1968, and from there he went on to Harvard Law School where he graduated in 1971. A proud veteran, Bob briefly served in the United States Air Force after graduating law school. He was stationed at the Ent Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he served as the base's Security Police Operations Officer during the Vietnam War. As the Vietnam War came to an end, Bob made his way south and eventually settled with his family back home in Birmingham, AL to practice law. Bob and his wife Suzanne only recently moved to Huntsville in order to be closer to family. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Suzanne M. Garner, two daughters Jessica G. Johnson (Nathan W. Johnson), and Abigail L. Demers (Andrew J. Demers), and two grandchildren Eli G. Johnson and Ava M. Johnson. Funeral services will be held at the Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 6:00PM CST. There will also be a Celebration of Life gathering immediately after the funeral.
