Robert Wendell Oslin

Robert graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1965 with the Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture-Forestry. He served 26 years in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1991. His career included two combat tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, two tours in Germany, and multiple assignments in Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, and Iowa.

Robert was a member of Morgan Road United Methodist Church in Bessemer and Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. His favorite pastimes included enjoying his family and woodworking.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, the former Patricia Elizabeth Phelps, to whom he was married on November 10, 1962. She passed away in 2020 after she and Robert celebrated 58 years of devoted love.

In addition to Patricia, Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. and Elizabeth Oslin; his sister, Jackie Lombard; his brother, Joe Oslin; and one son, Robert, Jr.

Survivors include Robert's son, Gary Oslin (Cynthia Dietz Oslin); four grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Connor, and Cameron; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Ann Cross.

Plans for a private celebration of Robert's life are underway.
