Robert (Bob) Eugene Zachow, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. Bob known affectionately as “Zac” was an insurance underwriter that afforded his family the opportunity to move around finally settling in Birmingham in 1973. He was a veteran of the Korean war and his life was one of service to his family, church and friends. Bob was an Eagle Scout and continued his involvement in scouting well after both sons were no longer in the troop. Bob is preceded in death by his wife Mayetta of 58 years. He is survived by his sons Steve Zachow (Chris), Robert O Zachow (Jodie) and daughter Terri Hendricks (Kevin); five grandchildren, Kim Zachow, Alix Zachow, Zac Zachow, Laura McRae (Andy)and Kate Zachow. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with the Funeral Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
