Shelby Jean Cottrell age 81, of Montevallo, Alabama passed away Thursday afternoon, September 8, 2022. She was loving wife of 53 years, a mother and a grandmother. A Cordova, Alabama native, Shelby was employed with Wal-Mart for over 20 years, retiring as a shoe department manager. Shelby was preceded in death by her husband Charles Kennedy Cottrell Jr; Mother, Minnie Shores Roberts; Father, Almos “Monk” Roberts; Son, James “Jamie” Almos Cottrell; and Grandson, Charles Kennedy Cottrell III “Chase” and 8 siblings.
Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Rardon (Donnie Rardon Jr); one son, Chad Cottrell (June Cottrell); two grandchildren, Donald Rardon III and Micheal Rardon; and one great-child, Jameson Rardon.
Her hobbies included fishing, family gatherings, traveling and going to Silver Star Casino.
A visitation for Shelby will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Burial is at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
