Steve Sanderson

Stephen C Sanderson, 71, of Birmingham, Alabama was called home by Jesus Christ while surrounded by his family on January 26, 2019. He was born May 17, 1947 in Birmingham to Raiford Leon & Mary Dean Sanderson, who preceded him in death. In 1966 he married the love of his life Gwen Loudin Sanderson, until his death - 52 1/2 years. Steve accepted Christ into his life at a young age and attended Adamsville Baptist Church. He graduated from Minor High School in 1965. Steve had a lifelong career as an APCO employee and retired in 2006. He operated and owned Sanderson Heating & Air Conditioning for over 40 years- helping numerous families with electrical, hot water and heating & A/C He was never too tired to go check and/or fix someone’s problems. Steve and Gwen had 3 Children: (oldest) Kevin Sanderson (Valerie); (middle) Vanessa Poole (Mike); (youngest) Troy Sanderson (Jo). He had 5 grandchildren: Taylor Sanderson; Matthew Palmier (Cynthia); John Sanderson (Maggie); Jessica Fitzgerald (Ben); Sara Poole; He had 2 siblings: (Sister) Fannie Lou Garrett (Vance); (Brother) Roger Sanderson (Sharon). Steve was an avid hunter with his two sons and fisherman with his longtime best friend. Now his legacy lives on in the lives that he touched on this earth. His family finds comfort in the assurance that Heaven has given him a new home and and is now free from pain and suffering. Visitation will be held on Saturday March 9, 2019 from 10-11 at Southern Heritage Funeral home (475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham Al 35124) and a Celebration of Life at 11-12.
