Susan Gayle Martin

Susan is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Robert Martin; brother, Rick Allen; sister, Barbara Shedd; four children, Tony Martin (Cole), Andy Martin (Jill), Angie Moncus (Burke), and Julie Burns (Guy); eight grandchildren; Toliver Chatwood, Madison Chatwood, Scotti Martin, Breta Martin, Jordan Stevens, Kinsley Stevens, Ellis Martin, and Grace Martin. Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Alice Allen, brother, Steve Allen, sister, Kathleen Allen, Aunt, Betty Jane Price, and grandson, Andrew Robert Stevens.

Susan was born in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating high school, she received her Pharmacy degree from the University of Cincinnati, and she practiced over ten years in hospital pharmacy. Susan then redirected her love and passion for her four children, grandchildren, and friends. She was always the one you could count on without hesitation. Her beauty and smile were infectious, her grace amazing, and she was always the bright light in the room.

The visitation will be held for friends and loved ones on November 16, 2024, from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home (475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, Al 35214). There will be a memorial service to follow, officiated by Reverend Donny Acton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Children’s of Alabama.
