Thomas "Tommy" Wayne Lee, age 74, from Pelham, AL, passed away on July 7, 2024 after a nearly 7 year long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Born on November 14, 1949 in Birmingham, AL to Doris Brinkley Lee and Robert E. Lee. Tommy is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Porter Lee, his two siblings, Patsy Cottrell (Dave), and Bobbie Whiting, as well as his two children Kenny Lee (Hayden) and Nicole Lee. Tommy was also a proud Gramps to 5 grandsons, Tyler, Braden (Samantha), Cohen, Madden, and Isaac.
An ordinary blue collar man, but with extraordinary talent and skill, Tommy was truly one of a kind. Throughout his life, he had a passion for working with his hands. He excelled in the art of welding and found fulfillment in owning his own business working in the steel and lumber industry, where he spent many years building things with precision and unmatched skill. Tommy's dedication to his craft was evident in every project he took on, and there were many!
While he loved his work, Tommy's true joy came from being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, family and friends, especially in the later years of his life. Tommy had big dreams of finally retiring, taking off in his camper with his wife and traveling to scenic places, unfortunately facing a sudden daunting diagnosis, many of those plans were put to a halt as he navigated his new normal. Despite the prognosis Tommy maintained an encouraging and inspiring attitude. Tommy loved nothing more than being down at his shop, riding his golf cart or a tractor, or sitting with you on the front porch telling stories.
Tommy leaves behind a legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and devotion to family. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved him.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
