Bill was born in Lakeland, Florida on December 26, 1936, to the late Helen and Claude Joseph Elledge, Jr. He graduated from Auburn University and worked for the Universal Underwriters Insurance Company. Bill also proudly served his country in the Army Reserves.
The legacy he leaves is one of an adoring husband, doting father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, talented musician, comedian with a “Far Side” sense of humor, Engineer, charmer, caregiver, fierce protector, spell binding storyteller, kindhearted, forever present for family, good advisor, financially savvy, lover of God and Country, Christian soldier. Most of all, Bill was forgiving.
Preceding him in death is his daughter, La’Nelle Elledge Arello.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Betty Kilgore Elledge; his daughters, Leslie Elledge Moon and Laura Elledge (Brandon) Parks; son-in-law, Phil Arello; grandchildren, Alex (David) Henderson, Stuart Arello, Tori (Chris) McDonald, Kasey (Brian) Renniger, Joseph (Julie) McDonald, and Sydney Parks; and great-grandchildren, Jace Henderson, Charlotte Henderson, Emma Henderson, and Ella McDonald. He is also survived by his siblings, JoAnn Elledge (Randy) Randoph and Claude Joseph (Elaine) Elledge III.
A visitation will be held at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 10 am to 11 am with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
