

William "Jack" Mullins, Sr., age 92 of Hoover, Alabama, passed away on Saturday morning. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dot French Mullins, his children Jane Bush (Bruce), Joy Patterson (Mike) and Jay Mullins (Lisa), his grandchildren Patrick Bush (Elizabeth), Lark Livingston (Jake), Benjamin Bush, Ty Patterson, Ali Pritchett (Josh), Bo Mullins and Jayson Mullins. Jack also had five great grandchildren. He graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute in 1949 with a degree in pharmacy. He had a distinguished career at Walker Drug Company. He was recognized with the Bowl of Hygeia for being the consumate friend of the profession of pharmacy. Jack served his country in the Army as a medic in World War II. He was in all the major European conflicts, including the Battle of Ardennes and the Battle of the Bulge. His heroic accomplishments were recognized thorugh the awarding of the Bronze Star for risking his life for others on the battlefield. He loved the Lord and was always eager to help his fellow man. Jack served as an active member of Riverchase United Methodist Church, was a leader in Kiwanis and served on the board of directors for Methodist Home for the Aging. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Riverchase United Methodist Church in Hoover, Alabama. The funeral service will be the same day at 12:30 p.m. at the church, followed by the committal service at Alabama National Cemetery at 2:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Riverchase United Methodist Church, 1953 Old Montgomery Hwy, Hoover, AL 35244.
