Winslow "Mac" Schneider

Mr. Schneider attended Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated from Georgia State University with his bachelor degree in business. He was employed by BellSouth/AT&T as a district engineer for 42 years.

Mr. Schneider married the former Dorothy "Dot" Cowham on May 10, 1942, and they were together 68 years until her death in 2010.

Mr. Schneider was a dedicated member of Valley Christian Church, serving as an elder, Sunday school teacher, and loyal choir member. He spent 30 years after retirement in many projects, including "Talking Book Machines" with awards from The Library of Congress and Telephone Pioneers of America.

In addition to his wife, "Dot," Mr. Schneider was preceded in death by a grandson, Keith H. Schneider. Survivors include three children, W.M. Schneider Jr., William A. Schneider (Cynthia), and Beverly Schneider Lakin (James); grandchildren, Kimberly Schneider Hurley, Eric A. Schneider, Jaime Lakin Tillman, Joni M. Lakin, and Rebecca S. Lakin; and great-grandchildren, James McCrummen "Mac" Tillman and Abigail "Abby" Tillman.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. The Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Valley Christian Church in Birmingham, followed by the Graveside Service at 3:30 p.m. at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
