Mrs. Bettye Jo Stine Bullock, 83, of Lincoln, Alabama, passed away on November 16, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Her family rejoices in knowing that she has begun a new life in Heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Bullock was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Carthell Bullock. We know they are happy to be together again. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Bruce and Annie Eva Stine, and brother-in-law, Bobby Crump.
She is survived by her children, Jonathan Bullock (Rebecca), Donna Johnson (Leonard); grandchildren, Joshua Bullock, James Johnson (Katie), Jordan Bullock (Julia), Joseph Johnson (Whitney), and Jacob Johnson; great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Jonah, and Jayleigh Bullock, and Jolee Johnson; and sisters, Jackie Crump, and Ginger Homesley (Jim).
Mrs. Bullock was born in Lincoln, AL, to Eugene Bruce and Annie Eva Stine. She went to and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, James Carthell Bullock in 1957. They spent 63 wonderful years together. She loved being a bank teller and worked for many years in various banks and credit unions in Talladega and Pell City. Some of her grandchildren’s favorite stories involve her days as Head Teller.
Mrs. Bullock, known to most as simply “Jo,” was a life-long member of Lincoln Baptist Church, having joined the church in 1954. She was saved that same year at a youth revival held at Lincoln High School and Lincoln Methodist Church. She was a dedicated member of Lincoln Baptist Church having served the church in many different capacities during her life. She truly loved her church and church family. She was blessed by the Lord, and was a cancer survivor. She enjoyed visiting antique malls and thrift stores. She was the best at finding the most unique and special items in the store. Her greatest joy came from laughing and talking with her husband, children, grandchildren, and sisters. She loved fellowshipping over Sunday dinner with her family. She will be greatly missed.
Graveside service will be held at Blue Eye Cemetery on Friday, November 19, 2021 at 3:00 pm with Bro, Jackie Bentley officiating. The family will be holding a private visitation. Kilgroe Funeral Home of Pell City will be handling the funeral arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Bullock, James Johnson, Jordan Bullock, Joseph Johnson, Jacob Johnson, and Larry Phillips. Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for the loving care shown to her during her illness.
