
Kenneth Bennett Roy, Jr passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 23, 2022 surrounded by friends and family. He was born on May 12, 1929 in Fayetteville, AR and lived there with his parents, brother, and sister.
The family moved to Auburn, AL where Ken graduated from Auburn High School and Auburn University (1950, BS Chemistry; 1957, BS Chemical Engineering). He married in 1952, and served in the US Navy from 1950- 1954, rising to the rank of LT Commander. After retiring from the Navy, Ken began his 35 year career with Chemstrand/Monsanto, which took him to many places: Pensacola FL, Luxembourg EU, Albertville AL, St Louis MO, Anniston AL. Upon retirement from Monsanto, Ken began his own engineering consulting company, QA Associates. He was an active member of many organizations including the Anniston Chamber of Commerce and SCORE. He held many offices in the National Society of Professional Engineers. Ken was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Anniston and served in many capacities there. In March 2021, Ken moved into the Col Robert Howard Veterans' Home in Pell City AL.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Kenneth Bennett Roy Sr. and Sarah Louise Spencer Roy; sister: Lucy Roy Sibley; brother: James S. Roy; his first wife: Mary Louise Sumrall Roy; and his second wife: Nan Christian Roy.
He leaves behind daughters: Robin (Steven) Astley, Patti Christians and Elizabeth Allen; grandchildren: Courtney (Daniel) Cook, Will (Sara) Christians, Susannah (Derrick) Watson, Hannah Allen and Mary Allen; and five great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
