Phillip Lanier Brasher (86) left this earth for his eternal home with Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior on February 6, 2019. Phil was born and raised in Gadsden, Alabama. He graduated from Emma Samson High School in 1950 and the University of Alabama in 1954 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Phil went on to serve in the Air Force where he spent a year and a half at a distant early warning site in Alaska. After his honorable discharge, he was employed by Arkansas Fuel Oil Corporation in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he met his wife Ann. Over the course of his career he worked for other oil companies as well as for a property management firm. Phil was a longtime member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church where he served the Lord as a deacon for many years.
He is predeceased by his parents, L.A. and Lillie Mae Brasher; and his brother, L.A. Brasher, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Carlisle Brasher; his daughter, Bethany Segrest (Robert); a nephew, Louis Brasher III; his sister-in-law, Bettye Brasher; and other family members and friends.
A private family graveside service was held at Brasher Springs in Gallant, Alabama on Thursday, February 7, 2019. Phil’s memorial service to celebrate his life will be on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 12 pm in the chapel at Briarwood Presbyterian Church (2200 Briarwood Way / Birmingham, AL 35243). Visitation with the family will begin in the chapel at 11 am prior to the service.
