PELL CITY - Richard was born in Lafollette, TN on November 16, 1932. He is preceded in death by his parents, Katherine Newman Iddins and Richard LeRoy (Roy) Iddins and his sister, Mary Lou Lamb (Leonard). He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Mabry Iddins; three sons, Richard Iddins, III (Nancy), James Iddins (Lisa), and Christopher Iddins (Brenda), five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Richard attended the public school in Johnson City, TN, graduating from Science Hill High School in 1950. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN in 1954, receiving a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and a 2nd Lieutenants commission in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
Richard retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation in 1985. He is an Air Force Veteran and Served with the Tennessee Air National Guard. After retirement, he was employed by consulting firms, was a licensed engineer in three states, was in the American Association of Highway and Transportation Officials and was a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Richard was a scout master and enjoyed seeing the boys maturing into outstanding men. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and Seekers Sunday School Class in Pell City, AL.
Graveside service will be held in the Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, TN on Saturday, January 2, 2020.
