It was good to have Richard as a partner at Leeds and Pell City and friend for over 34 years. My sympathy goes out to the entire family. He was one of the good guys in law enforcement. Rest in peace.

Richard was my dear weekend lake neighbor. My family, Martha and Butch Walker, Kirk, Opal, Bartlett and Liles Walker) will always remember lots of fun times and his delicious grilled food.  Thanks for the great memories, Richard.

Richard was a true friend as well as a great brother. Richard was a protector and always looking out for everyone in the family but he was also the one that entertained the family and made them laugh.  I have a lot of good memories to fill the time until we meet again.

Richard, I remember when we won that dance contest. Will dance with you again  in heaven one day. Love and prayers.

May God's ever present love and continuous blessings comfort you, Richard's family, as you go through this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am proud to say that Richard was one of my dearest friends … my Inglenook buddy.  Regrettably, as is true of many friendships, time and distance come between us.  But I know in my heart of hearts that our friendship never withered.  I was heartbroken to hear of Richard's death.  But knowing that many memories were made growing up in our community … the days at the little league field, fun times at the Big White Community House; and, of course, Richard's singing, a will far outshine my sadness and will forever bring a smile to my face.
I pray God's fragrant blessings and His healing spirit will comfort the Smith family, today, tomorrow and always.

Richard was my buddy.  He enjoyed working with him at the P.D.  he always had a smile on his face.  He will be missed.

Yes, Richard could sing a mean "My Girl ".  I have known him for a very long time. We had two beautiful daughters together. I know his family and friends will miss him very much.
