What do you say about Sam Meason? I know Sam because I married his talented, beautiful and somewhat spoiled daughter Terry.  He was successful, gregarious and outgoing...and I doubt he ever knew a stranger.  He made me feel welcome and part of the family from day one!  Sam loved animals, music, a great martini and the Oklahoma Sooners! Among so many other things he had a big heart, an open mind and a joy for life that was unmatched.  I am so honored to have known him!  He was, is and will remain loved by so many.  My life has been enriched by knowing Sam.  I am grateful that he raised such a wonderful daughter and that he and she chose me to be in their lives.

I am so sorry to hear of Sam's passing. Though it has been a number of years since I have seen him, my only memories of Sam are of his generosity, his smile, and that famous twinkle in his eye. My deepest condolences to you Terry, and all of Sam's family and friends.

He was a wonderful, witty, and handsome man.  I feel so blessed to have known him at all.  I will always treasure the memory of singing the "Boomer Sooner" song together! He was a true gentleman.

He was such a larger-than-life personality, this man Sam Meason.
Eternally handsome, uncommonly intelligent, he illuminated and enriched the lives of those he encountered.
He was polished and urbane, charming and roguish. Heads turned when he entered a room. Men wanted to be like him. Women wanted to be with him.
He cast a lengthy and inspiring shadow across expansive landscapes, from the classrooms of high school and college, to the playing fields of athletics, to the board rooms of international commerce.
Throughout his travels and triumphs, he never lost the compass of home and family. He was son and brother, father and husband, grandfather and guiding light.
I was fortunate, truly blessed, to have been granted the opportunity to walk a short – yet memorable – distance alongside Sam Meason. It was one of the great journeys of my life.
The twinkle might have faded from his eyes, the final breath might have finally escaped his chest, but the legacy of his genuine friendship, the true spirit of his courage and conviction, the uniqueness of his enthusiasm will burn brightly and incandescently for years in the hearts and minds of those he so lovingly touched.

Mr. Meason was a true southern gentleman and always had a glorious smile. He will truly be missed.

I will always remember Sam's wonderful smile, and upbeat attitude.
He was a friend that I will miss so much.
I still have the basketball jersey from this year's charity game where he sponsored me as a player. His name is displayed prominantly on the back. I will keep it and save it as memory to my friend.

Looking back through all of the photos provided here has revived so many fond memories of Sam, Susie, Terri, and Boomie. The fun we had during OU/Texas weekends, breakfast and mimosas at Dorothy's house before piling into our cars and caravaning to the fairgrounds.  Then there were the Ranger games, the holiday parties at Sam's house, the family get-togethers...always the gentleman and perfect host.  His beautiful smile lit up a room, and the way his eyes twinkled when he spoke made you feel like you were the only one around. Sam was the epitome of class, elegance, and grace. I was so blessed to have had such a good man in my life.  He was a role model to his children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and all who encountered him.  Sam, will be greatly missed, but he will never be forgotten.  Thank you Sam for sharing your heart and soul with all of us. We are all better people having known you.  You will be forever in our hearts and we will love you always.

I remember when Sam, Leah and Boom moved next door to us many years ago, what great neighbors! Sam was always a gentleman, always looked like a million dollars and was always a friend. Rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers from Scott, Travis and Emily.

I was married to Sam when he was 19 and we were married for almost 20 years.  He was a special guy; Gung-ho Marine, loving husband and father.
Circumstances caused us to take separate roads but I never stopped

Sooo Sorry for your loss.  I didn"t know your Dad very well, cleaned the house with Sarah a few times & by myself when Sarah was called away.  He was a little quite and Very hard worker.  Always up & gone to the office when I got there. Sometimes He would pop in for lunch .....30 mins. He was gone again.  Hold on to All Your Wonderful Memories!

Thanks to Sam for his support of the Choral Music Department and its director back in the day at Robert E. Lee H.S. in Houston.  Sam was a generous, caring and fun-loving individual who adored his children and presented himself as a true gentleman.  How nice that he sustained our friendship through the years. Sam and his family came into my life when I was ten years old, and have remained close friends to this day.  How blessed many of us in Houston were to see Sam once again a couple of weeks ago.  

What a bitter-sweet time for us all, especially Boom, since so close to his wedding day.  We can all take comfort in each other, and knowing that we will be blessed with another reunion when it is time.
