Sara Jo Turner

ALABASTER - Sara Jo Sims Turner, 81, who resided in Vincent, Alabama most of her life, passed away on June 21, 2014 at Brookwood Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, John S. Sims and Annie Viola Mackey Sims; and 9 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her devoted husband of over 63 years, William I. Turner; sons, Neil (Shree) Turner and Mike (Cheryl) Turner; grandchildren, William Neil (Katie) Turner, Jr., Kevin Michael Turner, Andria Turner (Patrick) Walker; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Higginbotham and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at Macedonia North Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. and will be directed by Kilgroe Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Jones officiating. Visitation will begin Tuesday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. for friends.

Pallbearers will be William Neil Turner, Jr., Kevin Turner, Patrick Walker, Gary Clinkscales, Johnny Beavers and Jay Mathis.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. James Barton and his staff for the excellent care they provided over the past 21 months.
