Shannon Wright Cowan

Shannon Wright Cowan passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 48, born August 1, 1977, and was a resident of Ragland, Alabama. A devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished sister, she will be deeply missed by her family and all who were lucky enough to know her.

Shannon possessed a gentle, loving spirit that illuminated the world around her. Though she was spiritual rather than religious, she found her reverence and connection to the universe in the quiet beauty of nature. She felt most at home outdoors, particularly while working at Ten Island Historical Park. To her, the park was much more than a job, it was a community treasure. Her warmth and kindness touched every visitor and colleague who crossed her path, and in return, she was profoundly loved.

She leaves behind an enduring legacy of compassion, teaching those around her to appreciate the simple joys of life, the rustle of trees, and the comfort of a helping hand.

She is survived by her loving husband, Matthew Cowan; her only child, Raven Wright; her brother, Brandon Sanders; her aunt, Marlene Henderson.
