Wayne was a devote member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Wayne was a member of the Kinights of Columbus for many years as the treasurer, and he was also a member of the Wolf Clan of the Echota Cherokee Tribe. Wayne had two associate degrees in engineering from Jefferson State Community College. Wayne loved to read, hunt, watch eagles and watch all the western movies especially the ones that has John Wayne in it. Wayne was an avid Auburn Fan and loved to watch Auburn football. Wayne personal words was “he wanted to be remembered by everyone as the good old man”.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Adams; his son, Wayne "Jay" Adams Jr. (Marie); his daughters, Candice Elaine Adams, and Joanna Adams Murphree (Brian); his grandchildren, Wayne "Trey" Adams III, Jordan Murphree Rawson (Billy), Allie Adams Wallace, Ryan Elizabeth Murphree, James Reid Williamon, Charles Grey Williamon, and Peyton Olivia Murphree; and his great grandchild, Wagner Claire Rawson.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Freeman and Helen Adams; his brother, Rev. Joe Lynn Adams; and his sister, Donna Adams Hooks.
A celebration of life visitation for Wayne will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Cropwell, Alabama. A funeral mass will be at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Columbarium, Ann’s New Life Pregnancies Medical Center, The Foundry Women’s Center/Ministries, or Celebrate Recovery @ ONE eighty church.
