
Elsie was born in the Town of Junius, NY on December 5th, 1921, the daughter of the late William and Anna (Verherbrugge) Clarissen. Elsie was the former owner and operator of the Penn Yan Surplus Outlet and the Coffee Den. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church and a member of the Penn Yan Moose Club.
Elsie is survived by her daughters Martha (Warren) Johnson of Penn Yan, Patricia Fenton (Norman Robinson) of Penn Yan and Rhonda D’Augustine of Geneva; Five grandchildren, PJ Allison, Kim (Dirk) Glen, Rick Mosier, Chad Allison (Sue Polizzi), and Kipp Allison (Beth Russell); Seven great grandchildren; Six Great Great Grandchildren; sister, Betty Totman of Lyons. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Jacob D'Augustine on September 25th, 1992; and her sisters, Anna Tichelarr Backus, Hilda Pettingel Kopf, Shirley Bolby, Cora Durkin, Margaret Reynolds, Melva Lucas, Mary Rounsville, and Johanna Smith.
Friends and family may call from Noon to 2pm on Tuesday, November 28th, 2017 at the Townsend Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, where a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held following at 2pm. Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Penn Yan. Memorial donations amy be made in her memory to the Penn Yan Moose Lodge.
