
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Van on May 20, 2013 at Pinkey’s Restaurant, Castle Street, Geneva, New York. Memorial donations may be made in Van’s name to The Wounded Warrior Project or any Veteran Outreach program.
Van was born on April 2, 1936 in Sunbury, PA to the late Frances Kline. Van moved to Geneva, New York with his mother when he was still a young boy. He served in the Air Force and is a Korean War veteran. He was a lifelong member of the VFW an American Legion. Van started the “Kline Care Home” and took care of disabled veterans. Letting them live in a home like atmosphere instead of a hospital. At one time Van ran 5 houses and cared for 52 veterans in and around the Geneva area. In the 90’s he bought a RV and traveled the U.S.A., making sales for a publishing company, before finally retiring to Florida. Even after retirement Van was a salesman for his own business, Menu’s Plus, out of Winter Haven, FL.
He is survived by his children, Shirley, from his first marriage. Ervan, Stephanie (Wixson), Giacomo “Jack”, Shirley (Hansen),and Jeffery from his second marriage. Van had many grandchildren, and a few great-grandchildren. Van was predeceased by his wife Betty in 2005, and his daughters Frances and Teresa of Arizona.
