

Robert “Flick” Flickinger, 65, of Penn Yan, passed away suddenly on Wednesday September 5, 2012.
A service for Flick will be held on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 11am at the Presbyterian Church in Geneva. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Robert F. Flickinger Memorial Fund to benefit the Yates County charities most important to him. Flick was born on December 2, 1946 in Upper Darby, PA to John and Jacqueline Treche Flickinger. He retired from Corning Inc. after 35 years, where he was a member of the Presidents Manufacturing Club and the Presidents Circle. He was a graduate of DePauw University where he played center on the football team and was president of both his fraternity and the intra-fraternity council. He received his Masters of Business Administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and was a Lieutenant in the Air Force. Flick served as President of the Corning YMCA, was a former elder & choir member of the Painted Post First Presbyterian Church and was a member & choir member of the Presbyterian Church in Geneva. He served on the planning & zoning boards in the Town of Barrington, was a mentor in Literacy Volunteers of America, and is soon to be recognized as the volunteer of the year with the Arts Center of Yates County. He coached in the Chemung Valley Soccer Association and was an Eagle Scout. Flick was an avid cyclist, snow and water skier and runner. He died doing what he loved, riding his bike on his favorite bike route. He had a zest for life, love for his family & positively impacted everyone he knew.
Flick is survived by his wife of 38 years, Caryl Eckblom Flickinger; children, Jason Flickinger, Mark (Tara) Flickinger, Brian (Michelle) Flickinger; granddaughter Ellie Flickinger; parents John & Jacqueline Flickinger; brother, John “Jay” (Cally) Flickinger, twin sisters Barbara (Kim) Christiansen, Nancy (Jim) Witkin; nieces & nephews Kristina (Stewart) Hill, Sarah Flickinger, Katie Christiansen, Sam Christiansen, Danny Witkin, Matthew Witkin. He was predeceased by his grandmother Rachel Foster.
