Born in Pensacola Florida he was the son of Daisy Nork Caprara and Alfred Joseph Caprara, Sr. He attended St. Michaels Catholic Schools from grades K-12 and the University of Southern Mississippi completing his education with a psychology degree before serving his country in the US Army. After Joe’s time in the service, he then went to work for Monsanto where he spent 40 years as a loyal, dedicated employee before retiring in 1991 to go on and open a few businesses to keep himself busy.
Joe will forever be remembered for his love of sports in fact he truly was a sports encyclopedia. He loved anything and everything sports related, but football and basketball were his main loves. He was becoming a fan of the Florida Gators over the past several years, much to his son’s pleasure and persuasion, and March madness was absolutely his favorite time of year.
To sum it up, Joe fiercely and loyally loved his family, sports and entrepreneurship.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sandra Broxson Caprara; children Cathy Blissard, Michael Caprara, Joyce (Chris) Rivera, Bradley (Janet) Caprara; grandchildren John Blissard, Connor Blissard, Christopher Rivera, Jr, Matthew (Maggie) Rivera, Joseph Caprara, Sarah Scott, and Rachel Scott.
The family would like to thank Joe’s caregiver, Leslie Fox for her dedication and wonderful home care over the past several months and the 7th floor nurses and doctors for the amazing care Joe received during his stay at Baptist Hospital. Kristina and Bailey were angels on earth for Joe’s family.
There will be no services, but the family will host an open house on Saturday, February 14th from 1:00 – 5:00 PM at the Caprara residence.
