

Allen Colby Brady, born on August 15, 1929, in San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, at the age of 95. At the time of his passing, he resided in Pensacola, Florida, though his heart always belonged to the sea and sky that shaped his extraordinary journey.
Captain Allen Brady's life was a testament to the pivotal moments that defined the American Century. His service as a US Naval Aviator placed him at the forefront of history, witnessing and participating in events such as the rise of Adolf Hitler, America’s Great Depression, the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Korean War, the Cold War's atomic developments, the Bay of Pigs Invasion, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, and the Mariel boatlift. Allen's experiences were not just stories of history but lived realities that he recounted with humility, never boasting of his significant contributions.
In his community, Allen was a beacon of resilience and dedication. He endured the trials of being a Vietnam Prisoner of War and actively engaged with the Naval Organization known as “Intruders.” As a honorary member of The Pensacola Yacht Club, he shared his passions of sailing and the sea. His volunteer work at various military events demonstrated his unwavering commitment to his fellow servicemen and women. Allen's legacy is immortalized in his book, “Witnessing the American Century,” a testament to his insightful reflections and wisdom.
Allen's family was the cornerstone of his life. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth Colby Brady and John Huston Brady, and his brother, John Brady Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne Brady, his daughter, Lisa Stricklin, his son, Richard Brady, his step-daughters, Wendy Moore and Dawn Quarles and his numerous grandchildren. Allen's family and friends cherished his intelligence, humility, and the warmth of his many tales, each a unique thread in the rich tapestry of his life.
The family invites you to join them in honoring Allen's memory at a visitation on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, located at 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL 32506. The funeral service will follow from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with a committal service at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Rd, Pensacola, FL 32508, from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM.
