Allison Stephen Cobb Jr.

1928 - 2011

Allison Stephen Cobb, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend and member of East Pointe Baptist Church, passed away on August 1, 2011. He is survived by his wife Faye Alderman Cobb; their four children, Gary Cobb, Lisa Morrison (Steve), Lori Robinson (Kenneth) and Mark Cobb (Dorothy); and six grandchildren, Kristin Johnson (Jonathan), Kelly Cobb, Matthew Cobb, Ryan Butler (Abby), Bailey Robinson, and Caroline Cobb.

He is also survived by his sister, Ruth Arnold, and brothers, William Cobb and Lamar Cobb, as well as three aunts and one uncle, Irene Ernest, Mary Earnest, and Len and Myrtle Cobb. He is preceded in death by his parents, Allison Stephen and Bessie Mae Ernest Cobb, sister Alba Chance, and brother David Cobb.

Born April 11, 1928, Allison was a fighter coming into the world and a fighter going out of it. Stationed in occupied Japan immediately after WWII, he served his country in the United States Army as a Paratrooper in the 11th Airborne. Following this, he resumed his position at Gulf Power Company. In 1972, he and his wife opened White’s Home and Auto Store in Cumming, Georgia. After six years, he returned to Gulf Power as assistant to the vice-president and director of governmental affairs. In 1992, he retired as local manager in DeFuniak Springs, Florida after 42 years of service with the company. As a deacon, he enjoyed his church work along with his other interests including gardening, riding horses, and hunting. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, Alabama, on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. At 2:00 p.m. that afternoon, a second visitation will be held in Pensacola, Florida at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel followed by burial at 3:00 p.m. in Bayview Memorial Park.
