

Barbara “Barb” (West) Monti, 54 of Pensacola, died at home on Monday, September 5, 2016. Barb was born on December 07, 1961 in Elgin, Illinois to Darrell and Dorothy West and was retired from marketing for several major corporations. She was very patriotic and was a proud U.S. Navy active duty veteran. In 2010 Barb married and became a firefighter’s wife, a role she enjoyed immensely. She is survived by her husband Lewis, her son Matt Carter of Fayetteville, GA, a daughter Michelle Carter of Pensacola, step-daughters Jennifer Wolters (Shane) of Jay, FL, Rebekah Wyatt (Bobby) of Pensacola, sisters Pat Jimboy (Jay) of Oklahoma City, OK, Pam Swan (Chandler) of Elgin, IL, Cathy Yanell (Marty) of Weston, CT, Nancy Carpenter (Hank) of Los Banos, CA, Mary Garber (Jeff) of Elgin, IL, Susan Johnson (John) of Chiswick, London, UK, brother Greg West (Tina) of Cary, IL and two grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and two step-great grandchildren. Barb came from a large and very close-knit, loving family and is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends. Barb also enjoyed her extended family of brothers and sisters of the fire service. Barb was known for her radiant smile, her genuine caring nature, and her true beauty inside and out. Her personality and presence filled any room she entered and she never met a stranger. Barb had a particular affection for God’s little creatures, especially turtles, and also leaves behind her beloved puppy “Halligan”.
Pallbearers will be members of Fire and Emergency Services Gulf Coast.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 12, 2016 from 5-7 pm with a funeral service on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 12:30 pm Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
