Carla was a pious Christian, with an intimate relationship with her Lord and Savior. She was a loving mother to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Carla was also a huge proponent of animals, most notably her bird-watching and volunteerism at her local animal shelter. As an Air Force brat, she saw the world through her father LtCol (ret.) Horace Godbee's military service. Carla was a Patriot, a devout supporter of her Blue Angels, and other veterans' causes to the very end.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Cathey; brother, Rex (Tomi) Godbee; son, Lance (Giuliana) Dettmann; daughter, Lorene (Charlie) Watts; son, Kyle (Erika) Cathey; and grandchildren, Ashley, Natalie, Harper, Claire, and (unborn) Colin.
Carla was deeply loved by most everyone she came in contact with, and will be greatly missed by all. She wanted what was best for her children and grandchildren, and is deeply loved by this family.
Celebration of Life Service is at Bayview Cemetery, 10 AM, Saturday, October 23, 2021 in the Mausoleum/Columbarium at the center/back of the cemetery. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow, at Saltgrass Steakhouse, 12PM, 905 E Gregory Street, Pensacola FL 32502.
In lieu of family gifts or flowers, donations can be submitted in Carla's name to her favorite charities: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, American Cancer Society, Joyce Meyer Ministries, and Wounded Warrior Project.
