David was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 6, 1960. His parents are LTC(Ret) William J. Windham and Joyce Bailey Windham who live in Midland, Georgia. Growing up in a military family, David attended schools in different locations to include Leeds, Alabama, Norfolk, Virginia, the Panama Canal, and Ft. Benning, Georgia. He also attended Brookstone School and Columbus College in Columbus, Georgia. David attended Helicopter Pilot training at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, where he graduated as a warrant officer in the army.
David lived in Pensacola, Florida for many years. He was a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed this occupation because of his love of nature – especially sea life.
David had many other interests to enhance his life. Music was always a part of his life. He played the piano and the guitar. He also enjoyed reading books – especially in the area of history. He would probably say that the time he spent on motorcycle trips – short or long – were his happiest times on this earth as he attuned with nature and all its beauty.
During David’s last years, he enjoyed owning and operating a shop, Balls and Bears, at the T+M Flea Market in Pensacola.
The Graveside service for David will be on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Forest Crest Cemetery at 5730 Highway 78e, Birmingham, Alabama.
David took time to do what made his soul happy.
