He left this world on May 6, 2026, at the age of 84, after a courageous battle with lung cancer and pneumonia. Donald was born on August 4, 1941, in Ackerville, Wisconsin, to Frederick Bublitz and Mary Krenzelok. Donald graduated from Slinger High School in 1959. In 1961, Donald answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force. Over the next eight years, he displayed unwavering dedication and bravery, serving two tours—one in Vietnam and another in Korea. Rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant, he was recognized as a civil engineer, bringing precision and skill to his responsibilities. Donald’s military service was a testament to his character, reflecting his commitment to duty, honor, and country.
On June 23, 1962, Donald married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Knapp. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning 63 beautiful years. Together, they created a home filled with laughter and warmth, nurturing four children: Michael Bublitz (Rochio), Becky Opper (Mike), Matthew Bublitz (Pei-Ru), and their late daughter, Judith Ann Anderson. Donald and Gloria’s lives were rich with family gatherings, children’s sporting events, and shared adventures, creating lasting memories. Donald’s family was his greatest joy. He was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren and a great-grandfather to six, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He was a guiding light, offering wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. His legacy of kindness, help, and integrity lives on in each of their hearts. Donald is survived by his beloved wife Gloria, his children, his sister Shirley Doerr (Jim), and a host of nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Mary, his brother Robert Bublitz, and his daughter, Judith Ann Anderson. His family finds solace in knowing he is now reunited with those he dearly loved.
Throughout his life, Donald exhibited a profound commitment to God and family. His genuine warmth, steadfast loyalty, and gentle humor made him a beloved friend to many. He leaves a lasting impact on all who knew him.
