Donna was born September 18, 1952 in Berkeley, California to Edward Paul Kurrels and Doris Gustafson Kurrels. As a young girl she enjoyed playing with her twin sister Pam, at there auntie’s ranch in the summer and staying with grandma up at the redwoods feeding chipmunks and going to the cabin at Lake Alpine, making Kool-Aid with the mountain water.
She received her Associate’s Degree from Chabot State College in Hayward, California and went on to become a veterinarian surgical nurse. She spent the last 30 years in the grocery industry as a clerk and also as a department manager at Whole Foods Market in San Ramon, CA. Donna loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending her time with them. She cherished her kitties all her life.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Amy Meyer, Frank Kurrels, Ann Gustafson and Charles Gustafson; her parents, Edward and Doris Kurrels.
Donna is survived by her children, Bryan Michael Maffei, Jennifer Lynn Maffei and Kristin Michelle Youell; her twin sister, Pamela Ann Johnson; nephew, Clint Rupprecht; niece, Robin Rupprecht; great nephew, Hunter Rupprecht and great niece, Shannon Rupprecht.
Family will receive friends at 11:30 a.m. with the Funeral services starting at 12:00 p.m., Sunday, December 09, 2018 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
