Doris Klemm Denni of Pensacola passed away April 22, 2021. She was bom on Sept. 20, 1934 in Elberta Alabama shortly after her parents, Paul J. Klemm and Margaret M. Boe, moved down from New Jersey. Her father, bom in Germany and now an American citizen, wanted to live and farm in the German community of Elberta, AL. She graduated from Foley High School and in 1953 met a youngsailor stationed at Barin Field, Foley AL and they married in 1954. For the next 20 years she was a stay at home Mom and Navy Wife to Bill Denni and their three children, William P Denni, Brian J. Denni, and Robert W. Denni. During this period she fell in love with golf and played fairly well.
Upon her husbands retirement from the US Navy they both took to sailing and soon joined the United States Power and Sail Squadron and became members of the Grand Lagoon Yacht Club. Now with three grandchildren, Jason L. Denni, Michael W. Denni, Robin L. Denni, a couple of weeks each summer was set aside to entertain and have fun with them while they stayed in Pensacola. So after the nest was empty the weekends were usually devoted to golf or sailing. She still had the weekdays while her husband worked so she joined the Florida Home and Community Educators. This organization is dedicated to teaching and serving the community. Teaching with exhibits in the annual Pensacola Fair and devising items to make life easier for the needy. Warm caps for premature babies, bibs for the elderly, and collecting items donated and distributing them to single mothers. She was very active in this organization and the power squadron where she soon became a Senior Member. For ten years she volunteered in the Home Front exhibit at the National Museum of Naval Aviation where she delighted in explaining WWI life to the young visitors. She was an extraordinary Wife, Mother, and Friend and will be missed by all she touched.
A Celebration of Life at the Grand Lagoon Yacht Club will be announced.
