Doris Jane Zink, was born October 4, 1951 in Zwolle, Louisiana to the late Robert Lee and Ola Alice Woolen Steward. Suzy, as her family and friends knew her, left this earthly realm on December 31, 2020, after a 5-year battle with stage 4 ovarian cancer. She was 69 years old.
It would be wrong to say that she lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined to live life to the fullest. When anyone else would have broken, Suzy stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Suzy Q. SHE IS OUR HERO!
Suzy’s family and friends were her life. Despite her large network of family and friends, she made time to touch the lives of everyone. This devotion was demonstrated when she took in three of her grandchildren, Tsinina "Brie", Kaiden, and Tealie, who were very young at the time. She guided and raised them as her own until her passing. Even though, she was devoted to these three, she boasted and was beloved by all her grandchildren and their friends, who all affectionately referred to her as their "Nana".
Preceding Suzy in death are her parents, her daughter; Stacey Nannette Wiley, two brothers: Marvin "Monkee" Steward, Archie Steward, and sister; Roberta Steward.
Suzy is survived by her son, Barry "Bubba" Lynn Wiley, Jr. (Tina), two daughters: Wanda Bryant Peterson (Kirk), Brandy Louise Cox; three brothers: Dennis "Buck" Steward (Dina), Bobby "Peanut" Steward; five sisters: Mary Shillings (Tony) , Nancy McCravey ( Michael), Sharon Whalen, Carolyn Crawford, Tabitha Steward, 16 grandchildren; chosen family: Kimberly Hadley (Mike), Darlene Hahn (Gill) and their son Gene, Martha Clark, Randy Bryant, Vincent Bryant along with numerous extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
