Dr. G was the only one from BJU that came to my Christian school (with his big beat booklet) that made me inspired to become a full-time rock musician for our Lord. Thanks to Frank, who gave me the motivation to share my love of inspiration al music. Rest in piece. Notafan

Dr. Garlock was a huge influence in my music ministry. He was a delight to be around, to listen to, to share with. He was extremely funny, always sharing a joke or comical story. He was an excellent teacher/professor to me in the mid-late 1980's at Pensacola Christian College. A true man of God. A fine musician and composer. A tremendous mentor, and a man whom I shall not forget in my lifetime. He was beloved by all of us, and I thank God that he was placed in my life, even if only for a brief period!
As a side note, my former class mates will remember that while he was teaching or lecturing, he (quite hilariously) would be easily distracted if he happened to be looking out the windows and saw an airplane passing by. He would stop and talk about the airplane or flying...happened every time.

During my college years at BJU, I was honored to sing in a musical group which Frank Garlock directed.  It was one of the highlights of my college days as I wasn’t a music major, I was an RN working on my BS.  I was reminded of Mr. Garlock this morning in church when we sang, “To God Be the Glory.”  Our group was practicing that song one day, but apparently not everyone was pronouncing the “P” in “Praise” as he wanted. So he stopped us and with a somewhat firm voice said, “It’s ‘Praise,’ not ‘braise,’ you’re not cooking steak.”  That has stayed with me all these years.  When I looked online to see what might be there about him, I found his obituary and saw that he’s been with the Lord for a year now.  What a wonderful man he was, and how he used his talents for the Lord!

I was going through some of my old Bibles and saw that Frank had signed my Bible back in the 80's.  

He had visited my church, Grace Baptist in South Bend Indiana and I remember him playing the song Praise Him, Praise Him on the trombone. 

Oddly, it was a year ago today that he passed, so my deepest condolences to the Garlock family on what might be a day of remembering.  

Thank you to Bro Frank for sharing his gift and his heart for the ministry.

I have fond memories of Dr. Garlock at Southside Baptist Church.  The music there was the most beautiful and uplifting I have ever heard.  I remember his allowing written personal requests, which was a big deal to me as a little girl.

My family loved and respected Dr. Garlock and his wife.   They were a tremendous blessing and encouragement to us.

I am praying for the family.  I know our dear Savior is carrying them through this difficult time.

Dear Garlock Family, we were blessed by all the spell-binding choir numbers at Southside Baptist church under Dr. G’s direction. The number of lives you’ve touched is unimaginable. Thank you for your dedication to the one true God, Jesus Christ the Lord. We stand with you in both tears and rejoicing, that heart-breaking mix until the sadness is softened by time and quietness to process all the emotions until treasured memories heal the loss of one so dearly loved.

With a full heart we send our love and hope to family and friends for God's peace at the passing of a great servant of the Lord.  Dr. Frank Garlock was a true mentor and trail blazer in my life.   From my early teenage years at the Wilds as a part of the Buford Hwy Baptist Church youth group, to BJU class lectures, and even a part-time stint at Musical Ministries working with ChoirMaster in the early 80's Dr. Garlock was a mentor; and, later joining in on the week-long Indianapolis Tent Meetings, singing in the choir and even a special with Mrs. Garlock playing we were able, in a way, to serve together; then, through the Wilds Music Conferences Dr. and Mrs. Garlock provided their gracious influence;  and, for me an especially wonderful summer at Pensacola Christian College with Dr. Garlock as an actual teacher.  Dr. Garlock influenced, taught, and encouraged me in the minsitry.  He will be missed and his influence will go on.    Dr. Frank Garlock was truly a trail blazer; he used his gifts and love of the Lord to lead forward, illuminate the way, and show the great eternal goal. 

It was a great privilege to know both of the Garlocks and have them as teachers.   They served the Lord to the end, which was a great inspiration.   Dr. Garlock will be missed.

Thank you for your ministry in music at Pasir Panjang Christ Church, Singapore! I remember asking Dr Garlock to sign on my personal copy of the Majesty Hymnal. Thank you, Dr Garlock and Majesty Music, for the songs and hymns we still sing in our church today. One day we will sing together again in heaven, praising our awesome and majestic God and Saviour! 

Dr Garlock was a great man of faith!  His life reflected that from the moment I first met him Many years ago at Southside Baptist on Augusta Rd.  His great zeal for Christian music was a huge blessing and his many works of music are still very much appreciated and enjoyed today.  His Majesty Music has stood the test of time and still is a great source of good music and children's ministry through the Patch the Pirate series, which I grew up on!  His family's legacy continues through the ministry and testimony of his dear children and now grandchildren.  He will be missed, but Heaven is his home now and someday we will be reunited to sing again together with him leading the chorus!

Sending our condolences 💐 from the Overhiser family in Rochester, NY! I had the privilege of meeting Frank Garlock when I was about 18 years old! God comfort your family during this time, and wrap you in his tender, loving arms!

Dr. Garlockwas a very genuine Christian gentleman. I always enjoyed seeing him.

My most vivid memory of Dr. Garlock was his leading the song PEACE BE STILL in the FMA at BJU when I was a student. I can still picture him  compelling, in his extraordinary way, 5,000 people  to crescendo and fall to a whisper as the last "Peace, be still!" of the chorus was sung;
"Whether the wrath of the storm-toss'd sea, or demons or men or whatever it be, no water can swallow the ship where lies The Master of ocean, and earth and skies; They all shall sweetly obey my will, Peace, be still! Peace, be still! They all shall sweetly obey my will! Peace, peace, be still!"

His life showed sweet obedience to the Master's will!

I, Suzanne Burk Yauch, want to say to the family that the Robert and Sandra Burk family and the Thomas and Suzanne Yauch  family send our most sincere condolences and prayers to the Frank Garlock family. We go back to 1970 and our families have interacted for "generations". My folks have sung in Frank's choirs, I remember when Ron and Shelly began dating, my mom and dad hosted them in our home in MI and we have many Garlock/Hamilton stories. May God comfort and may those close uphold you as you say  "so long" to one so loved. 

Dr. Garlock visit my church years ago and he and Flora Jean spent an unforgettable week with us. As someone with a music degree and fond of the Garlock and Hamilton family music, I was eager to hear what Dr. Garlock had to say.  His message transformed my thinking about music and the importance of balancing the three elements of music (melody, harmony and rhythm).  It opened my eyes to the spiritual connection in a new way!

I believe strongly that Heaven is a place that has music of unparalleled beauty that glorifies God. Imagine his delight and joy to be surrounded by these glorious sounds in his final home!
