Hazel "Christine" Lacy

Christine was born December 12th, 1933, in Castleberry, Alabama; one of four sisters born to Oscar and Kate Hobbs. She grew up in a farming family and knew what it was to work on the farm beside her parents and siblings.

She later met William Ernest Payne from North Brewton, and they were married in 1951. They had four boys: William W. Payne, Ernest Randall Payne, Donald Brock Payne and Douglas Oscar Payne.

After some time following her husband's passing, she married John Lacy from Mobile.

After John's passing, she moved to Cantonment to live with her sister for almost 20 years.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Cantonment where she enjoyed worshipping the Lord's word.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Minnie Higdon and Faye McCrory, husband William (Bill) Payne, infant son Randall, and adult son Donald (Donnie) Payne, grandson Michael Payne and second husband John Lacy.

Christine is survived by her sister and wonderful caregiver Lois Allen; two sons Walter (Bill) Payne (Jaren), Doug Payne (Jeanie), ten grandkids, nineteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

She lived a blessed life as a woman of grace, compassion and integrity.

A visitation for Christine will be held Monday, July 21, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32534. A chapel service will occur Monday, July 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Her graveside service will be Monday, July 21, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Pine Crest Cemetery, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama, 36605. She will be laid to rest beside her husband and father of her children.The services will be officiated by her pastor Dr. Will Stone.
