1945 – 2016
Jack Gilbert Mussell, 70, passed away peacefully at his home on March 5, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jack was born on March 13, 1945 in Paterson, New Jersey to Harry and Laura Mussell. Jack was raised there and graduated from Pompton Lakes High School in 1963. After High School Jack worked for Public Service Electric and Gas as a service technician, until he was drafted in the Navy in 1965. He served in the Navy until he completed his service in 1967. Fortunately the company held his job for him and actually promoted him for serving his country. Jack lived in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey until he moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1982, and took a position with Warrington Plumbing.
Jack was an avid sportsman hunting and fishing. He was up at the wee hours before the sun rose in his shooting house and stayed until after dusk. He hunted mostly with his son Alan and grandson Dillon since both were little kids. Jack taught both his son and grandson to put a gun together and take it apart when they began to walk. Jack always had a sweet and caring way about him. With his plumbing, electrical and mechanical skills, all you had to do was ask and he was there, tools in hand, ready to help. Jack had such a sweet, kind, caring way and thoughtful manner; truly a very positive person. When he said something, it just made sense. He was an excellent carpenter and an overall very hard worker. He lived in the home that he built with his own hands with the help of his family. Jack was a person that touched many lives, always with a smile on his face, and we are all a better person to have known him.
Jack was preceded in death by his brother Harry Mussell, and his stepson Terry Kuntz.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Patricia Lou Mussell, brother George Mussell, sister Bonnie Russo, and sister Laura Romer, his daughter Elizabeth Stegmaier (Earl), his son Jack Alan Mussell (Patricia), stepdaughter Karen Williams (Jay), stepson Richard Kuntz (Kim), and (7) wonderful grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 12:00 followed by funeral services and internment at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home and Gardens. Pastor Allen Cotton will be officiating the service.
Arrangements under the direction of Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, Pensacola, FL.
